Airsoft Softwair are proud to annouce the immediate availability of Hollywood 4: VideoUp. This is a major update which brings along many new features and general improvements over Hollywood 3. The biggest new feature is that Hollywood can now export AVI videos. Now Amiga users can for the first time create high quality video presentations with only a few mouse clicks - on their Amiga with Hollywood.

Also, you can use the powerful new auto scaling engines to export the video file in any resolution you like. All vector graphics (including true type text) will be scaled without quality losses so that they will look perfectly sharp even in high-end resolutions like 1920*1080 pixels. Hollywood uses the professional Motion JPEG codec (MJPEG) for video export which guarantees high quality videos and good compression. MJPEG can be played by all major video players on Amiga (e.g. DVPlayer under OS4 or MPlayer under MorphOS). Videos can be as long as your hard-drive space permits. By using the OpenDML AVI 2.0 standard, Hollywood is able to export AVIs that are greater than 4 GB without problems.

Of course, video files created by Hollywood can also use audio streams. Hollywood uses sophisticated techniques to guarantee perfect timing between video and audio. In fact, Hollywood 4's video engine was designed especially with the goal in mind that the timing of the original Hollywood script is exactly replicated in the video file. So you can create videos that are perfectly synchronized to music, for instance! Furthermore, you can use other programs to convert the video file created by Hollywood into a MPEG2 video and then burn it onto a DVD. Thus, you can use your Amiga to create your own videos!

Besides this impressing new feature Hollywood 4 has several other cool new features. Here is a non-exhaustive list of new features in Hollywood 4:

- Create AVI videos with Hollywood!
- Layers system completely rewritten - much more powerful now!
- Support for layer rotation & scaling
- Mac OS X for Intel is now natively supported!
- Support for true type fonts also under Windows & Mac
- Powerful scaling engines allow promotion to any resolution
- Transition effects can run asynchronously now
- Support for 32-bit mouse pointer images
- Mouse wheel support is now implemented
- Hollywood applets can use compression now
- Support for virtual files inside other files
- Applets can be imported into Hollywood scripts
- Many new masking techniques available
- Files over 4 GB are now supported
- Cool new features in the DOS library
- Added support for dynamic object id selection
- Hollywood code can be saved & loaded at runtime now
- 10 new example scripts (over 60 in total)
- Standard library set encompasses over 420 functions now!
- Lots of other changes, optimizations and bug fixes

Hollywood 4 is Airsoft Softwair's ultimate Multimedia experience and a must-have for every Amiga user who wants to use the full power that is in his machine. Hollywood is available on a CD-ROM and as a download version. If you order the download version, you will have to download an ISO image which you need to burn on CD-R then. If you already own Hollywood, you can buy a discounted upgrade version. People who bought Hollywood 3 in 2009 are eligible for a free upgrade to version 4.

Hollywood is the ultimate bridge between all the different AmigaOS compatible platforms and the other two modern desktop systems, Windows and Mac OS! With Hollywood, you can save programs for all those platforms. You do not have to have AmigaOS4 or AROS, you can save programs for these platforms also from your AmigaOS3 installation! You do not need to have Mac OS X, you can still compile your programs for it using your AmigaOS or MorphOS installation. Only Hollywood makes it possible. Hi Andreas

Congratulations with the new release. I Just ordered the upgrade from 3 to 4 and I am looking forward to work with it.

I recently bought the Cubic IDE to use it with Hollywood. I guess this is not your 'problem', but do you know if the new stuff is supported?

regards Jesper

Hi there,

ah, finally it is there! Great, Andreas, thanks for your hard work. The new (main) feature seem to be very cool. Let's see how they will work. :-)
I recently bought the Cubic IDE to use it with Hollywood. I guess this is not your 'problem', but do you know if the new stuff is supported?
Correct, this is my problem. :-)

Well, because of university stuff and health problems I slowly get back into private things, which means hw4cubic among others. Right now the new stuff of HW4 is not supported with Cubic, but nevertheless you can use hw4cubic right now for the most HW things. When I have my copy of HW 4 I will start to implement the new HW 4 functions to hw4cubic.

Andreas, I will write you a mail these days ...

Cheers, Micha
Currently using: Hollywood 9 with Windows IDE and Hollywood 9 with Visual Studio Code and hw4vsc
