Hi Everyone!

My first Hollywood utility has entered a state, where it might actually be of use to somebody :)

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2920309/SpriteCreator.zip

(This is the os 4 version. If you you want another version, please slip me a note.)

In old an ancient times I used to program with software like AMOS and Game Smith. One of the top things, that I liked about these environments were the sprite/animation editors that came with them. I decided, that Hollywood needed one of these too!

After a little guidance from Andreas (thanks buddy :) ), I came up with this little utility. The user interface is slightly simplistic (and a little bit ugly), but it reminds me of the AMOS Bob Editor, that I used long time ago.

I've made the suggestion to Andreas, that if this utility becomes really good and useful, it could be included as a bonus/demo in future versions of Hollywood. But I want to ask the community first, what they think. Be aware, that this is about 2 days of work, that you are watching, and with more time it will become more feature rich and all the little bugs will (hopefully) go away.

Thanks,

Alfkil

P.S.: Oh yes, how to use...

1) Try loading the example project for a start. To switch frames, move the mouse to the empty area btw the "work area" and the "thumbs area" and click left or right mouse. To move the frame just drag it in the work area. To resize the work area, use the little resize gadget. To save your work... well, I think you get it by now ;)

2)The image files are saved separately from the project file (called "<project>.sprite"), so you need to have both in the same folder. When you press "New Project", the program will ask you to select your working folder. Be aware, that nothing is saved in that folder before you actually press "Save Project"

3) To make a large .png containing all your images, just press "Save PNG". The program will automatically get rid of unneeded excess space, so you don't need to worry about your work area being too large. The program will tell you the information needed to load your new sprite into your own Hollywood script.

That's it pretty much for now. As you can see, some buttons don't work yet, but mind yourself, that you are watching a work in progress!

Hi again,

Apparently there are some problems with my .zip file, so I've uploaded an .lha archive instead. Sorry about the hazzle...

Thanks for advance!

I think it should be possible ;). Which version are you interested in, the ppc or the 68k version? Of course I wont be able to test it myself, so use is entirely at your own risk!
