Clarification of what AmigaOS3 binary compile means

Post by djrikki »

Hi,

If I compile software as an AmigaOS3-binary does this mean it will end up as 68k or PPC?

I do remember owning a Cyberstorm PPC back in the day and it ran OS3 so I am not quite sure.

Well, the OS3 only works with Amiga with 68k and you don't forget with graphic card, for the PPC you have the other options to make the executables for WarpOS (PPC on 68k) and Amiga OS4 and MorphOS.
I tested programs compiled for 68k with Hollywood and on OS4 don't runs very well.

AmigaOS 3 means an 68020 binary. To get hybrid 68k + PPC binaries, you need to compile for WarpOS.
